Local wine company signs international exclusive
TWS Media, publishers of the highly popular e-zine Wine Extra and organisers of The Wine Show, have signed an exclusive agreement to be the South African media partner of the prominent International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) wine courses available in SA
The UK-based Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) wine courses are now available in South Africa for the first time. WSET Diploma graduate and Associate of the Institute of Wines and Spirits, Cathy Marston, will be offering Levels 1, 2 and 3, with the first round of courses starting in March.

Google Street View takes new strides
Google yesterday announced that users can now view even more Cape wineries on Google Street View, from the comfort of their PCs or smartphones. A further five wineries have been added, making it total of 30 wineries that are included in the most comprehensive database of winelands imagery in the world.

Sauvignon Blanc - Most popular white in SA
Personally Sauvignon Blanc is not my favourite cultivar. With characters likes "cats pee on a gooseberry bush" and naturally very high acid, I fail to see the romance in this wine ... but that is the beauty of wine tasting, it is all a personal opinion and in the 'eye of the beholder' or bottle.
