Angelo in Colle, the "Cerratalto" and the Fiesole" near the homonymous farmhouse opposite to Montalcino.

100% Sangiovese which in Montalcino is called Brunello.

The grapes were harvested on September 29, October 7 and 8 1999. The Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto is produced from a selection of vineyards situated in the natural amphitheatre by the Asso river. The particular microclimate, the "terroir", the low production per vine and the great attention to detail in the winery together produce a well balanced wine with character and good alcohol content. It is only produced when the the quality of the grapes harvested is considered to be excellent.

Fermentation and Maceration: 19 days.

Aged in small oak barrels for 27 months. Bottled on the 18 March 2002 and released for sales on the 1 October 2005. Bottles produced: 18,662 of 750 ml and 500 of 1500 ml.

Wine Spectator, October 31, 2004:

Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto 1999

[ Score: 95/100  |  Price: $125 ]

Lovely berry and cherry character with plenty of plums and lightly toasted oak. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very fresh and exciting. Extremely fine, long tannins. Goes on for minutes. This is always a top-notch single-vineyard wine.
