100% Sangiovese piccolo

The year 2002 was one of the most idiosyncratic vintages of the last 20 years. Spring was gentle and mild, followed by a hot and humid summer. Autumn was characterized by frequented rainfalls. The soil is from the pliocene period and is of various colours and character, from purple to red and pale grey. It alternates with calcareous soil.

The harvest started at the end of September and was characterized by a careful selection of dry and healthy grapes. Vinification of the grapes lasted for 10 days. Using the method of micro oxygenation we have tried to preserve the perfume during and after the malolactic fermentation. The wine was then placed in one year old barriques for a period of 4 months. This wine was bottled in December 2003.
