The Azienda Agricola Castello della Paneretta is in the Chianti Classico district near the town of Barberino Val d'Elsa.

The total area of the estate is of 309 ha., mostly woods, with 16 ha. of specialised vineyards and 35 ha. of mixed cultivation with olive trees.

Owned since 1985 by the Marchesi Strozzi, a noble Florence family and more recently acquired by the Albisetti family.

50% Sangiovese
50% Canaiolo

The soil is from the pliocene period and is of various colours and character, from purple to red and pale grey. It alternates with calcareous soil.

The year 2001 was characterized by a cold winter, spring with balanced rainfalls and a very hot summer. Autumn was cold with isolated rainfalls. The harvesting took place in the first few days of October. Fermentation lasted 2 weeks with daily pumping over. The wine was refined in oak casks of 24 and 45 hectoliters for a period of 14 months.
