The origins of the Damilano farming company date back to over a century ago, when Giuseppe Borgogno, the great-grandfather of the current owners, started to grow and make wine from his own grapes. This tradition was kept up by Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-law, together with his children until it passed on to his four grandchildren: Guido, Margherita, Paolo and Mario, who very attentively manage their forefathers' land today. The wines produced are renowned for their upright style? and the estate? is widely appreciated thanks to the strictness and passion that accompany all of the company's activities.
100% Nebbiolo
Grapes grown in the municipality of Barolo – sub-area of Cannubi, one of the very top Barolo crus. Harvested in October. Vines are between 30 and 50 years. Average altitude of the vineyard? is 300 metres. Main exposure is to the south. Type of soil is limestone and clay with a high percentage of sand. Yield? of grapes about 4-5 tons per hectare?.
At a controlled temperature for 7-8 days.
50% in barriques, 50% in 2nd/3rd ageing barriques for 24 months.
Garnet red with lively brick reflections. The aroma? is full and full bodied with scent of licorice and cocoa. Delightfully dry?, full, robust and austere? with soft? tannins on the palate?.
14.5% alcohol? vol.
This sumptuous wine is linked to the great traditional foods of Piedmont, which are usually intense? and rich in flavour and aroma?.
