Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

Appellation: DOCG

Description: Dry Red

Vintages Available: 2003

Country: Italy

Producer: Donatella Cinelli Colombini

Donatella Cinelli Colombini owns two farmhouses in Tuscany, in Montalcino and Trequanda, in the heart of Medieval Tuscany.

The Colle in Trequanda is situated in the Chianti and Doc Orcia regions. It consists of more than 23 hectares of vineyard, cereals, white truffles, olive groves, and a country inn with 19 apartments, a restaurant, and 3 pools. The hospitality offered to the tourists is of various kinds: from the simplicity of peasant farm houses with their original furnishings to the finery of the bedroom made for the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Pietro Leopoldo and his amorous trysts.

For the lovers of “useful” farm holiday in Tuscany the estate organises cookery and painting courses as well as week-long stays with lessons and guided tours dedicated to the countryside.

The winery is very suggestive: it begins with a medieval hermitage, it crosses the underground of the sixteenth century villa and then rises up until the loft where the Vin Santo is made. The vinification area has up to the minute apparatus and a spectacular panorama of the Crete Senesi.

100% Sangiovese (Brunello)

This wine comes from two small vineyards of 13 hectares each one surrounding a building built in the 16th century, Casato “Prime Donne”. Here Among the barrels are frescoes of the history of Montalcino.

Traditional red vinification with prolonged skin contact during fermentation.

Two years in barriques and small oak barrels. The wine is subsequently refined in bottle at controlled temperature.

Dark ruby red that becomes garnet with ageing. Aroma is full, rich, fine, recalling spices and small red fruits. Taste is full, intense, harmonious and warm.

13.5% alcohol.

Roasted or braised noble red meats, seasoned cheeses.

Serving temperature: 18-20°C.

The best vintages of Brunello have been known to defy the passage of centuries. Normally Brunello reaches maximum quality between 6 and 8 years of age. Corks should be replaced in the cellar of origin every 10 years.
