The property is situated on the north-east side of the Montalcino hill, at less than 4 km from the historical village. It consists of approximately 45 hectares dedicated to various agricultural activities; 8.5 hectares are reserved to the cultivation of grapes for Brunello di Montalcino; the property is also well known for its production of high quality olive oil. Owner and hands-on manager of the farm is 30 year old Marco Mantengoli.

The "Brunello di Montalcino" D.O.C.G. is made from a careful selection of Sangiovese Grosso grapes.

The estate's 8.5 hectares of specialised vineyards are planted with one single rootstock: Sangiovese Grosso. The various vineyards are of diverse age (1 to 25 years old) and density (3500 to 4500 vines per hectare). They are grown with the low spurred cordon method and produce less than 8 tons of grapes per hectare. Harvest takes place at the end of September / beginning of October and is entirely hand-picked ensuring a careful qualitative selection of grapes.

The wine ferments in stainless steel during the first 15 days and is frequently pumped-over.

At the end of the alcoholic fermentation the wine is placed in barriques for 12 months. During this period malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is racked several times. Subsequently it is moved to large 20-40 hl barrels where it rests for another 14 months. After this period, the content of the various large barrels is assembled and the mass is left to rest for another 10 months. Finally, bottling takes place and the product is allowed to settle in bottle for another 6 months.

The colour is ruby-red tending to garnet. Forthcoming, complex nose with well defined hints of spices, cloves, prunes, eucalyptus, chocolates with cherries macerated in alcohol. The taste is fresh, fragrant, fruity and elegant, yet also robust and highly persistent. If well kept it lasts many years. It is suggested to open the bottle about two hours before sipping the wine.
