The results obtained take the names of Chianti Classico Riserva Granaio, Terrarossa, Massovecchio and Selvanella, wines that gain prestigious acknowledgements in Italy and throughout the world.

100% Sangiovese Grosso

43.49 hectares of vineyards, belonging to the property, trained by the Guyot and cordone speronato systems on the hills (average 400 metres altitude) of Fattoria La Selvanella, in the commune of Radda in Chianti, one of the best crus in the classic zone, through a happy combination of soil (mainly alberese), position (southwest) and microclimate.

The very healthy bunches, picked by hand at the end of September, were traditionally vinified with 20 days maceration and frequent pumping of the must over the cap; after the alcoholic fermentation at no more than 25°C, and the malolactic, the wine was matured for 30 months in French oak casks.

Chianti Classico Riserva La Selvanella has a clear, dark, ruby colour with garnet tints, a full, complex bouquet with strong notes of raspberry conserve and of irises and hints of vanilla, cinnamon and leather. The flavour is full, warm and savoury with an elegant and lingering aftertaste of woodland undergrowth and toasted almonds. It can be kept longer than usual, and improves with time.

2005 Gambero Rosso on La Selvanella '00

The result is out of this world, and perhaps the best La Selvanella ever. The nose is complex, pervasive and elegant, its fruity notes mingling with very intense, unusual mineral and smoky sensations. The gutsy palate displays well-balanced acidity, sweet, tight-knit tannins that are never woody, and extraordinary length.

2006 Gambero Rosso on La Selvanella '01

The Chianti Classico La Selvanella '01 is quite simply masterful, enormously classy an exemplar of typicity. Fruit aromas mix with violets and tobacco before the rounded, gutsy, deliciously drinkable palate reveals supporting acidity that says "sangiovese" loud and clear. The other wines in the range are all well typed but seem to pale in comparison.

13.10% alcohol; 5.50g/l total acidity; 3.47 pH; 1g/l residual sugar; 27 g/l dry extract.

Red meats, game, mature cheeses.

18-20 years in bottles stored horizontally in cool dark conditions.
