70% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese Grosso)
20% Canaiolo Nero
10% (Mammolo, Trebbiano, Malvasia)

Selected sites on the hillsides of Montepulciano, between the valleys of Chiana and Orcia. The vines, trained by simple and double Guyot systems, are grown on terrain of pliocene origin of clay & marl.

The ripe grapes, picked during the first ten days of October, are vinified by the traditional red wine method, with 20 days of maceration, and frequent pumping of the must over the cap; the fermentation takes place at 28-30°C. Three years in casks of Limousin oak, initially assisted by a special heat treatment. The wine rests at least six months before being released for consumption.

Ruby red with bright garnet hues; deep, complex bouquet with strong notes of prune, cloves, cinnamon, hints of violet & iris; dry, savoury, attractively tannic, full flavour with an aftertaste of plum jam & toasted almond.
