Vintages Available: 2003

Country: Italy

The Masi family has been making wine for three generations. It currently produces a wide range of wines (white, rose, red and dessert) from a variety of grapes all of which come from the area of Rufina and its surroundings (except for the Bianco Vergine Valdichiana).

Sangiovese
Cabernet Sauvignon
Syrah

"I Pini", the nearest vineyard to the tower of Basciano, is located on the southern slope of the property, on "galestroso" soil, very rich in stone.

Harvest in the first half of October. During fermentation, the maceration of the grapes lasts for three to four weeks. Before malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to new Allier oak barrels for 14 months. The wine is then bottled and aged for six months before release.

Deep ruby, red colour. Very aromatic nose, showing plum, berry and well-integrated hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is ripe, full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish.
